Urgent help for eleven-year-old Rickson
A little boy called Rickson needs our help. Please help us make sure he can go on living!
This is the story of eleven-year-old Rickson, who has bravely fought hydrocephalus (water on the brain) since birth. When Rickson was just three days old, a so-called shunt was placed in his brain to relieve the pressure. Thanks to it, little Rickson led a healthy, happy life for eleven years.
Recently, however, he fell seriously ill, suffering from severe headaches, vomiting, vision problems and weakness. The doctors found that his shunt had suddenly become blocked, causing dangerous pressure on his brain. Rickson needed urgent surgery to replace the blocked catheter.
The operation has stabilised him, but his family can hardly bear the high costs of the emergency surgery, the aftercare and ongoing monitoring. We are raising funds to support his recovery, to help his family and to give Rickson the chance of a normal, healthy childhood. Every contribution – large or small – can make a life-changing difference.
The state is covering half
Now that Antoniushilfe e.V. is also recognised as a charity in Pakistan, the state is covering half of the costs, which currently amount to around €6,000. We thank the responsible Pakistani authorities and hope for the support of our friends and helpers to pay the remaining costs.
Our association feels responsible for little Rickson too: as a half-orphan, he is one of our children of Lahore.
